On Monday it is already June! We have only three weeks to the end of the school year! The past months have been a roller coaster for many of us, strange times that have asked a lot from our children and their families. I feel that we have come out stronger and more capable as individuals and as a school community. I want to thank you all, children, parents, teachers, and support staff for the amazing work you have been doing!
Learning Journey Portfolios
We have received many learning portfolios that show the beautiful work that has happened during these months. Teachers are already busy going through the folders and admiring the creativity and newly acquired skills.
Next week, we start the transition process for those children that next year move from Casa to Lower Primary, Lower to Upper Primary and Upper Primary to Secondary. It is helpful if these children start getting acquainted with their peers and the way things work in their new class. This is why next week, we invite the older Casa children to participate in the Circle Time of Lower Primary, and the older Lower Primary children to participate in the Upper Primary Circle Time. You will find the times in your class calendar. Later in June, we will organise a parent education session to guide you through the measures we envisage to acquaint the children with their new class environment next year.
We have realised that some of our students and parents are showing signs of fatigue. This is quite normal towards the end of the academic year, even under normal circumstances. Therefore, we are adjusting the school schedule for the next three weeks to make it more playful. Further, we will conclude the school year two days earlier on the 19th of June at 12pm to give children and teachers a few days break before we start our Summer Camp on the 25th of June.
Free summer camp
As you will know, we offer a 2 ½ week free summer camp for all our children from June 25th to July 10th. The summer camp will be offered from 9.00 to 12.30 from Monday to Friday. No lunches will be served, and our children will bring their own snack to avoid sharing. We will also ask each child to bring their own mask and a pair of gloves, which we will keep in school and use if needed. We will send you the full schedule of the activities soon.
For us to better plan for the summer camp, please be so kind and fill out this very brief survey:
Montessori Model United Nations
Nicol, Ana, Charlotte, Mariona, Nàstia, Sofia and Laia have done amazing work during the Montessori Model United Nations conference last week. We are very proud of our outstanding delegates who so well represented their country, São Tomé and Príncipe. Well done!
You can find photos of their UN journey as well as their recorded speeches in a previous post on this blog.
