Update on the current situation
Yesterday, the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Council of Education of the Balearic Islands held a sectorial meeting. The decision was that on-site schooling will only start in September. All schools, including private ones, must follow these guidelines. This implies that our school will need to continue E-learning until the end of the term.
Support for Upper Primary
However, the education authorities allow for few exceptions. For our school, this means that our oldest children in the last year of Upper Primary can come back to school for support activities. We are currently working with Jo, our Upper Primary lead teacher, on a concept for support activities. We will be in touch directly with concerned parents soon.
Free Summer Camp
As a sign of appreciation for all parents that have supported the school in these difficult times, we offer a 2 ½ week free summer camp for all our children from June 25th to July 10th. Many of our children miss meeting up with their friends, and some parents need some extra time for work or relaxation after the long Covid-19 lockdown. The summer camp will follow all public health and social distancing measures that we will be required to comply with. This of course assumes that the regulations of the Balearic education authorities will allow us to carry out this initiative, which to date they do.
We will offer a rich programme of outdoor activities and the school´s swimming pool will be ready to use. We will abide by the social distancing measures to grant a safe and healthy environment as much as it is possible. No children external to the school will be allowed to enrol.
The participation in the camp is of course voluntary and will be free of charge for all families of The Montessori School of Mallorca.
We are currently working on the details of the summer camp schedule and will share it with you soon.
