What personal data we collect and why we collect it
The Earth School S.L. and website of The Montessori School of Mallorca comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The website of Earth Children School S.L. collects data for four reasons: a) to allow parents to apply for a place in The Montessori School of Mallorca, b) to inform you about upcoming events through a newsletter, c) to allow you to sign up for Montessori training programmes, d) for parents and caregivers of our pupils to access information to the protected area of the website, the Parents’ Corner, e) to order school uniforms, and f) to allow you to get in touch with the school through our contact form.
a) Application
The website form ‘Apply now’ allows potential clients to apply for a place in The Montessori School of Mallorca. This data is required to provide the school with sufficient initial information to determine a) if there is currently a place available for the child, b) if the child fulfils some of the basic requirements (e.g. language skills, age), and c) if the child can be considered for a place in one of the classes of The Montessori School of Mallorca.
Through this form, you provide us with information about the child’s full name, her/his sex, data of birth, the name of the current school or nursery, languages spoken at home, reasons for applying, brothers and sisters and their age, any special needs of the child, the parents’ names, their contact email address, their telephone number and the town or city of residence. The data is collected and submitted to The Montessori School of Mallorca using Google Forms. New enrolments are stored electronically and in hard-copy by the school’s office for internal use by the school’s administration as well as teachers and teaching assistants. If the child joins the school, contact information of parents and any special needs of the child (medication, allergies) can be displayed in written form in the school’s classroom.
Data provided through the application process for children that have not been accepted to The Montessori School of Mallorca will be stored for up to 36 months in case of re-applications. However, parents can request to delete all data by email to [email protected] at any time. Data provided through the application process for children that at some point attended the school will be kept indefinitely for administrative purposes.
b) Newsletter
The website allows interested parents to subscribe to the school’s newsletter. The newsletter contains information about upcoming events organized by or with participation of The Montessori School of Mallorca. For that purpose, the website collects information about your email address. The mailing list is managed by the WordPress ‘The Newsletter Plugin‘, which is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Newsletter plugin stores subscriber’s data in the website’s WordPress blog database and does not transfer any data.
c) Montessori training programmes
The website allows interested parents to sign up for training programmes at The Montessori School of Mallorca. For that purpose, the website collects information about your name, your email address, your phone number and the name of the training that you have signed up for.
d) Parents’ corner
This allows our clients to access the Parents’ Corner, a protected blog on the school’s website with updated information about life in our school. To access our Parent’s Corner with a password provided by the school, we store no personal data.
The Parents’ Corner may display photo galleries, videos or audio recordings of your child. The blog is password protected. The password can only be obtained directly from the school’s office and will be changed one a year. During enrolment, parents can decide if they allow the school to make use of photos, video and audio recordings of their child for a) internal and b) external purposes. An updated list of these authorizations is kept by the school’s office.
e) Shop for school uniforms
Our on-line shop allows our clients – the parents of our children in school – to view, select and order school uniforms. When ordering a school uniform, we ask for your first name, last name, name of your child(ren), any additional comments, your email address and a phone number. To allow clients ordering school uniform, we use the WordPress plug-in WooCommerce. WooCommerce uses the information you provide about yourself when placing an order only to complete that order. WooCommerce does not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that order. You can access WooCommerce’s privacy policy here.
f) Contact form
If you choose to contact the school via our contact form on the website (www.montessorimallorca.org/contact-map/), we collect your name, email address and any attachment you choose to submitto be able to contact you and respond to your queries. We keep contact form submissions for customer service purposes, but you do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes or any other purpose that is not linked to your inquiry.
Cookies
When you access the parents’ corner, we will also set up several cookies to save your password information. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We track visitors to our website using the WordPress plugin Slimstat, which collects information on the number of visitors, traffic sources, conversions, demographics, visitor locations, visitor IPs and open pages.
Who we share your data with
We do not actively share any of the information you provide with any external party.
How long we retain your data
For administrative purposes, we retain your data training programmes and school uniform orders electronically and in hard-copy in the school’s office. We retain your email address through the Wordpress ‘The Newsletter Plugin‘ to be able to send you a newsletter as long as you do not cancel the subscription. If you leave a comment, the comment and its meta data are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. If you want to inquire what personal data we have, please send an email to [email protected].

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
